This time last year, Rory McIlroy revealed that he writes his goals for each year on the back of a boarding pass on his was to the first tournament of his year.
The World Number Three confirmed today, that he has done the same for 2016 as he has done in previous years as he begins his season at the Abu Dhabi Championships.

McIlroy has been paired with Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler for the opening two rounds of the tournament that begins on Thursday morning. McIlroy has never won the tournament, but has finished second in four of the last five years. He has finished one shot behind the winner in three of those second place finishes.
When asked about his boarding pass for 2016, McIlroy revealed that the written goals were not primarily result based goals. "A lot of the goals are about preparation and about doing as much as I possibly can (on the off weeks) so that when I turn up to events I'm ready to go and I don't have to think about anything. I know that I am a well-prepared as I can be. A lot of stuff is to do with that, with preparation and making sure that I am fully ready to go every week of the year."
