Rafael Dos Anjos' strength and conditioning coach says a "freak accident" in training caused the injury which looks likely to prevent him from fighting Conor McGregor next month.
The Brazilian was due to defend his lightweight title at UFC196 on March 5th in Las Vegas.
But reports emerged this morning that he may have broken his foot.
Dos Anjos' S&C coach Nick Curson has tweeted more details, saying that it occurred while sparring and resulted in a fracture to one of the bones:
Just to clarify, RDA's injury was a freak accident that occurred while sparring, he kicked, partner checked and fractured fifth metatarsal.
