One thing is driving Roger Federer's Wimbledon journey this year

If there is one thing to admire about Roger Federer at the moment, it's his persistence in trying to add to an already over-flowing trophy cabinet.

The Swiss maestro saw off the challenge of home favourite Andy Murray at Wimbledon today to book his place in Sunday's final against Novak Djokovic.

Although, ESPN tennis analyst Luke Jensen expects the Serbian to win the match-up, he told Off The Ball that there may be an explanation for Federer's inspired recent form.

"I believe when you get to this part of a career - and I faced the same thing as a player - you see the end right in front of you and you turn and the beginning is so far down the road. You don't even see the beginning anymore," he said.

"And you cherish every moment, every win, every loss. Every win is a little bit sweeter, every loss kills you a little bit more inside and you know the end is very near. I think you have that overdrive gear that you give to and devote to the match and tournament, because you know you only have so many really good swings at winning majors again. For Roger and for all these veterans, they know the end is near and they give it their all."
