Michael Conlan has continued his incredibly successful medal winning run by claiming victory at the World Championships in Doha on Wednesday.
The boxer had already qualified for the Rio Olympics before the tournament even began, so he was able to concentrate on claiming gold here, once again coached by boxing legend Billy Walsh.
Although Katie Taylor has also won gold at the World Championships, Conlan has become the first Irish male boxer to claim the world title, and will now surely have one eye on becoming a gold medalist at next year's Olympics in Rio.
In a statement, Minster Michael Ring said "Michael has had a great year, following up on the European gold he won earlier this year, with this historic victory. Michael is only the third Irish boxer, alongside Katie Taylor and John Joe Nevin, to win medals at Olympic Games, European and World Championships. I am delighted for him and his Dad John, who I know is such a steady influence on him. I also want to congratulate Billy Walsh and all the team on another fantastic performance at a major championship".

President Michael D. Higgins also sent his congratulations, saying "Michael showed great courage and skill in winning this difficult bout and his family and all in friends in Belfast must be very proud of him this evening. Michael follows in the great tradition of success by Irish boxers at the highest level".
You can watch Conlan's winning final bout below, which starts around the 39 minute mark.
