Rory McIlroy is one green jacket away from achieving a Grand Slam of Majors and following in the footprints of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.
But, while the Holywood golfer is still some way from matching the dominance of those two golfing greats, current Ryder Cup vice-captain Andy North believes McIlroy's talent can match them already.
North joined Irish Golf Desk's Brian Keogh on tonight's show to review McIlroy's win at The Open and had plenty of praise for the Northern Irishman.
"The last 18 months for Rory haven't been easy. He's got a lot of grief and I think he's grown up an awful lot in the last year or year and a half," said North.
"He has played some really good golf this year and what he did last year was absolutely spectacular. He drove the ball so well when he needed to.
"When he's on, he's as good as anyone we've ever seen. He's in the class of Tiger at his best and Jack Nicklaus at his best as far as I'm concerned."
Keogh felt the conditions suited McIlroy and also felt that he showed plenty of maturity.
"The positive thing about Rory McIlroy is that he's getting better all the time. He's only 25 and that's not good news for your Jason Days, Henrik Stensons and Rickie Fowler."
Keogh also discussed the merits of McIlroy's A Game and the B-Game which he needs to work on when his driver deserts him.
He and North also touched on the challenge of managing expectations over the next few years of McIlroy's career.
