Ken Doherty on a fascinating snooker finale

Last night's World Snooker Championship final saw a surprise result as defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan was beaten by Mark Selby.

A fightback by Selby saw him defeat the Rocket by 18 frames to 14 in Sheffield.

We were joined by the 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty tonight and believes it was the ultimate clash of styles.

"There was no doubt that there was a certain classic clash of styles but that's what sport is all about. It was a great sort of counter-attacking matchplay from Selby. I thought it was fascinating because you have the best player to ever play the game, who was running away with the World Championship and nobody gave Selby a prayer. But [Selby] dug in and broke O'Sullivan," said Doherty who discussed how the in-form O'Sullivan's head had gone as Selby reeled him in.

Doherty also touched on the impact Dr Steve Peters has made in terms of helping O'Sullivan with the mental side of the game and how the money system means he can now concentrate on the major events.

From his own point of view, Doherty enjoyed his time at the World Championship as he reached the second round and chatted about his own experience at the Crucible.
