Jordan Spieth maintains one-shot lead ahead of The Masters final round

Three dropped shots in the final two holes from Jordan Spieth has opened up the field ahead of the final round of The Masters on Sunday evening.

The reigning champion had a four-shot lead standing on the 17th tee, but a bogey on the penultimate hole followed by a three-putt double-bogey on 18 means the top-ten are only separated by four-shots ahead of the final round.

Spieth's round of 73 was his second over-par round in a row, but the first round 66 keeps him a shot clear of the lead. The feature pairing of the World number two and Rory McIlroy failed to live up to the billing with four shots between the two at the end of the round.

Only two players in the top-30 recorded worse rounds than McIlroy's 77. The World number three failed to record a birdie in his round which included three bogeys and a double-bogey. He will start the final round in a tie for eleventh, five behind Spieth.

Only five players shot under-par rounds on a testing Saturday. Smylie Kaufman was the only play to break 70, shooting a third round 69 to move to second place. He starts Sunday's round one shot behind Spieth.

Two-time winner Bernhard Langer is in a tie for third place after a third round 70. The 1985 and 1993 champion is one of only four players under par and will partner Hideki Matsuyama on Sunday in the penultimate pairing. If Langer were to win a third green jacket, the 58-year-old would become the oldest major winner in golfing history.

Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and Danny Willett are all on level par and will fancy their chances of claiming their first green jacket. One shot further back, lie Lee Westwood, Brandt Snedeker and Irish Open champion Soren Kjeldsen.

McIlroy and Daniel Berger are the only players on +2. The duo are the last players with a somewhat realistic chance of causing an upset on Sunday evening.

It was a day to forget for Shane Lowry. The Offaly native shot a 79, to finish on +7. The 29-year-old starts his final round in a tie for 34th place.
