The Giro d’Italia comes to the Republic of Ireland today and a worldwide audience of 775 million people will watch the race as it makes its way along the east coast before reaching Dublin city centre this afternoon.
Stage three of the race begins in Armagh at 11.45 am and will travel south through Dundalk, Castlebellingham, Balbriggan and Clontarf, before finishing up on Upper Merrion Street in Dublin city centre this afternoon. The stage length is 187 km and riders are expected to reach Dublin city centre at approximately 5pm.
The current holder of the pink jersey is Australian Michael Matthews of the Orica-GreenEDGE team.
Of the Irish competitors in this year's race, Nicolas Roche is 23rd overall, 26 seconds off the leader, while Philip Deignan is back in 36th, 38 seconds off the pace.
