Is a new era beginning to take shape in elite tennis?
In the men's draw at Wimbledon, we have already seen traditional Big Four members Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray bite the dust, while there is no guarantee that Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will be the ones to take advantage.
"I really think it's fatigue for the stars," ESPN's tennis expert Luke Jensen told us tonight.
He sees Murray's Wimbledon capitulation to Grigor Dimitrov today as a microcosm of a disappointing 2014 for the Scot who underwent back surgery last year. Jensen suggested that Murray is struggling with the aftermath of the successful battle to end Britain's Wimbledon drought.
"You've got to pay the physical and emotional price of that journey and that climb. All of a sudden Wimbledon 2014 comes up and he's still mentally in a fog and physically he's not up to the challenge. He lost to a very talented Dimitrov," said Jensen.
As for Nadal who lost to Nick Kyrgios, Jensen believes it is a sign that power players are returning to prominence.
"The game is coming back to the power players and the big servers who are popping up everywhere," said Jensen, who thinks that style will be particularly significant at Wimbledon comparing to other Grand Slams.
