Conor McGregor potentially faces a six month absence from the Octagon

Conor McGregor faces a potential six months away from the Octagon after his Featherweight Title win in Las Vegas last weekend.

The 27-year-old defeated champion Jose Aldo in 13 seconds at UFC 194 to unify the Featherweight belts and he already has his eyes set on moving up a weight to the Lightweight division.

After every UFC event, the organisation produce a list of medical suspensions and sadly for the Dubliner he features on the UFC 194 list. The Nevada Athletic Commission have provisionally suspended 17 fighters, including McGregor on medical grounds.

"Conor McGregor: requires x-ray of left wrist, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 06/12".

If McGregor has broken his left wrist, he will not be allowed fight until June 12th next year, which is six months to the day after the Aldo win. The news will come as a massive blow to McGregor as he had planned to move up to the Lightweight division and potentially fight the champion in March or April.

Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos fights Donald Cerrone this weekend. McGregor may look to fight the winner of that bout, but a wrist injury could force him to re-assess his plans.
