Blake Griffin to miss a month of action after breaking his hand punching a member of staff

Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin is to miss between four and six weeks of action after he broke his hand punching a member of the team's backroom staff.

The 26-year-old broke his hand in Toronto in the early hours of Tuesday morning according to ESPN. Griffin repeatedly punched the team's assistant equipment manager in a restaurant as the team were playing a series of away games.

Griffin has not played since late December when he injured his quadriceps in a game against the LA Lakers. In his absence, the team have won 12 out of 15 games. The team are currently fourth in the Western Conference and look set to reach the playoffs.

If Griffin's prognosis is correct he will be expected to miss at least another 12 games and will also miss the All-Star weekend in Toronto. Missing the All-Star weekend means that Griffin will not be able to compete in the Slam Dunk competition as he did in 2011.
