Andy Murray's US Open is over. The Scot lost in four sets to South African Kevin Anderson last night in the Fourth Round at Flushing Meadows.
The exit is Murray's earliest at a Grand Slam since he lost in the Third Round at the US Open in 2010. He had reached at least the quarter finals in his past 18 Grand Slams.
Speaking about the record, Murray said after the loss; "That's obviously something that is disappointing to lose. Obviously that's many years' work that's gone into building that sort of consistency. To lose that is tough."
Anderson won the match 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in over four hours hitting 25 aces along the way. He now faces French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter finals.
