The UFC have confirmed that Jose Aldo has not broken his ribs in preparation for his UFC Featherweight title bout with Conor McGregor next month.
The Brazilian has suffered a "bone bruise and cartilage injury" according to a statement released by the organisation last night.
While Aldo remains on the card, and has been cleared by doctors to compete the UFC have a contigency plan in place, should they need it. American Chad Mendes will step in to fight McGregor for the Interim UFC Featherweight title should Aldo's injury prevent him from fighting.
The news will come as a relieft to Irish fans who have bought tickets for the event in Las Vegas. Whether Aldo competes or not, McGregor has been confirmed to take the Octagon on July 11th.
