In his latest Irish Times column, former Donegal manager Jim McGuinness says some of the gaps visible between the elite football counties and the rest made him "fear for the game".
The gap between the Top 4-5 counties and the rest has been a talking point over the last couple of years, but one of the questions is how more counties can make the leap and whether they are failing to make the most of the resources available to them.
Tonight on Off The Ball, we debated the issue with Mick Foley of The Sunday Times and ex-Armagh and Mayo footballer Billy Joe Padden.
Foley suggested that too many counties are "comfortable being mediocre" and unwilling to make the necessary changes.
Our own Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson feels that all counties should look into bringing in performance directors to help put the correct structures in place.
Billy Joe pinpointed the likes of Kildare and Galway as the counties that are punching below their potential weight.
