Why is a Kerry-Cork Munster Final in Killarney so special?

Fitzgerald Stadium hosts this years Munster Final as Kerry welcome Cork to Killarney. On this weeks Monday Rewind, Oisin Langan spoke to the legendary Radio Kerry broadcaster about the game and why a final in Killarney is so special.

Fogarty has lived in the Kerry town all his life and when speaking to Oisin he said the location of the venue makes it so special. "You have all the thousands of people travelling to a tourist town. The stadium is only a two or three minute walk from the centre of town and everyone congregates in the centre." The surroundings of the stadium also add to the vista for fans in the stadium.

He is unsure what to think of Kerry's performance so far this season. Forgarty thinks that Kerry "did just enough" against Tipperary in the Munster semi-final. The match in Semple Stadium was made easier due to Tipperary's comments before the game which he feels didnt help Peter Creedon's side.

The Kerry starting 15 will be interesting to see as only seven of last years All Ireland final side started against Tipperary. Fogarty told Oisin that he does not expect Tommy Walsh to start the game. He feels James O'Donoghue and Colm Cooper will start the game though, despite a lack of match fitness.

When asked about his favourite Munster final, between the two side's in Killarney, Weeshie told Oisin that it happened 60 years ago this year. The 1955 final was Weeshie's first and he spoke about the memories of seeing his first Munster final in the Kerry town. Kerry went on to beat Cork in the Munster final and were victorious in Croke Park in September when they beat Dublin in the final.
