John Horan, Chairman of the Leinster Council and Colm Parkinson spoke to Shane Coleman on The Pat Kenny Show this morning to look at the future of the Provincial Football Championships.
The Off the Ball presenter wants to see Provincial Championships remain in their current form but feels they need to take place earlier in the year in March. His dream scenario is for the All Ireland series become what we see currently with the league format each Spring.
The former Laois star wants each Division played out as usual before the top four in Divisions 1 and 2 enter the quarter finals of the All Ireland series. The same would take place in Divisions 3 and 4 where sides can win a second tier competition.
The ideas failed to get the backing of Horan who felt there would be too many games with nothing to play for and the calendar changes may not be welcomed widely.
