WATCH: Tipp's Noel McGrath speaks for first time about cancer battle

Tipperary hurler Noel McGrath opens up for the first time about his testicular cancer diagnosis last April, in an emotional video promoting the Movember Foundation.

The 24-year-old speaks candidly about his scare in the week leading up to the Division 1 semi-final against Waterford, and how four months later he returned to play for his county in their All-Ireland semi-final against Galway last month.

The Movember Foundation ambassador describes how he first learned of his illness: "There was just a lump on my testicle. It was just very abnormal. It’s something that you would notice very quickly. I knew straight away that there was something not right."

McGrath also speaks about the spirit of the GAA community and how that was epitomised in the moment Galway manager Anthony Cunningham was seen speaking with the hurler post Tipp's semi-final loss: "In fairness to Anthony, he came and he shook my hand. He just wished me well and said it was great to see me back. He didn't need to do what he did, but he did. It just goes to show the spirit that's in the GAA.

"We're lucky to have a sport that's so community-based."
