WATCH | These Kilcoo Under-8s show some serious GAA blocking skills

The months of isolation are making many people concoct new ways of showing off their sporting skills, but these Kilcoo youngsters have gone old school.

The under 8 boys have been filmed practicing their blocking with clubman Conor Laverty, who helped the side to the All-Ireland senior club football final in January.

The Down outfit ultimately fell to Galway's Corofin, who clinched the three-in-a-row with a 1-12 to 0-7 victory after extra time.

Although if this video is anything to go by, the Kilcoo youngsters are ready to get their revenge in the All-Ireland senior club decider in around the year 2032.

As Conor says himself, "Just came across this video I took at the end of last summer with my Kilcoo U8 boys. Is there a better skill to be viewed than a player throwing everything into a block? #bravelads."

Laverty has eight county senior medals to his name and was added to the Monaghan senior football backroom team by Seamus 'Banty' McEnaney before their league campaign that was cut short due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Who knows, we might even have had a sneak peak at some future Down senior footballers under his tutelage here?

We had two Mournemen - Conor Deegan and Donal O'Neill on OTB AM last week choosing their county's sporting Mount Rushmore. And although there was plenty of debate (and a little disagreement) four strong names were settled on.

George Best passed the geographical test - so once we figured he wasn't from Antrim he was always going to make the cut! World number one golfer Rory McIlroy, Down GAA legend Seán O'Neill, and former Arsenal, Spurs and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pat Jennings were the others to make the final four.
