Tommy Dunne: Clare and Wateford "look to have gone ahead of Tipp and one or two others in the pecking order"

Former Tipperary hurler Tommy Dunne feels there is a growing sense that Allianz League finalists Clare and Waterford have overtaken many of their rivals as the All-Ireland championship begins.

Dunne and The Sunday Times' Denis Walsh joined Off The Ball tonight to look at the start of the Munster championship with Tipp taking on Cork in the opener.

"It looks very much like Clare and Wateford have pushed on a huge amount in the last 12 months. That's the way it looks to me anyway," said Dunne.

"The two league matches I thought were savage matches. I thought both of them were very impressive. Waterford had Clare and then Clare came back. I'm not writing Tipp off for an All-Ireland but all I'm saying is the Tipp public will go 'wow, they're two young, vibrant teams' that have really pushed on into a league final and possibly look to have gone ahead of Tipp and maybe one or two others in the pecking order in terms of if you were backing to win an All-Ireland at this particular point in time."
