Today's GAA results threw up a major shock as the Laois hurlers pulled off a 1-22 to 0-23 over Dublin in Portlaoise - hurling, bloody hell.
Eddie Brennan's side pulled off a remarkable home victory, over a much-fancied Dublin side still riding high from victory over Galway, to open up this summer's championship no end.
In a match that lurched backwards and forwards, Laois caught the Dubs with an early blow as Aaron Dunphy stuck away an early goal to stun the Dubs, and put Brennan's side into a good lead.
As the match lurched towards half time, Laois went six clear of the Dubs with crucial points from Mark Kavanagh and Jack Kelly, heading into the break with a five-point lead at 1-12 to 0-10.
The second half followed a similar pattern, but Dublin lacked the goal that would bring Mattie Kenny's side within spitting distance of a Laois side that had the real onus to go on and secure a win that would live long in the memory of Laois GAA.
John Lennon was sent off for a second yellow deep into the second half, as Sean Moran did his utmost to keep the Dubs in it until the very last.
But it will be Tipperary next up for a Laois side that few will write off following a remarkable victory on home soil, as the midlanders put the might of Dublin to bed, and Dubs' fans having to focus on a football side that will likely retain Sam Maguire.
Though, if this result is anything to go by, anything might happen in the Championship this year.
