It's a furore that reached the point that Westmeath's county board had to release a statement about it.
But have we heard the last of the jersey-gate controversy which landed in the public domain after this tweet by Westmeath minor hurling manager Johnny Greville?

Tonight on Off The Ball, we spoke to Greville about the matter of the jerseys and the Westmeath county board's decision to withdraw the team from the Minor B championship, and he relayed the discussion he had with county board chairman Sean Sheridan who felt the tweet was "unacceptable".
"We had a good discussion this morning about it. I explained that being unacceptable or not, for me it's fact. It came back to me from club delegates that this was quoted directly from a minor board official at a meeting on July 9th," said Greville.
"So as far as I was concerned with the lack of communication from the county board, that this was the main reason why we were being withdrawn from the All-Ireland B competition because I haven't received any communication from the county board to say otherwise since then, because my co-ordinator had sent an email on July 6th to the county board to find out exactly what the situation was with the All-Ireland B competition and to this date we haven't received reply."
Greville, who says his last match in charge ultimately turned out to be the June Leinster semi defeat to Dublin, also spoke about his disillusionment with the turn of events.
"I'm a little bit disillusioned because the success we had this year was down to myself and my management team. We'd a great management team and a great setup. We did an awful lot on our own. A lot of people are talking about Westmeath hurling being on the way up.

"On the ground here in Westmeath, there's a lot of stuff that still has to be done to get to where we need to be and one of the biggest thing is a little bit of respect for management teams," he said, going on to discuss the miscommunication.
"This sort of stuff in behind the scenes was draining my energy and it's something that's very hard to take when you put in an awful lot of effort."
