They've got the Power! Tipp footballers retain management

Tipperary have erred on the side of continuity by handing a fresh three-year term to football manager David Power.

The Kilsheelan-Kilcash was appointed originally in September 2019, and just fourteen months later they were Munster champions.

Power was at the helm as the Premier County ended an 85-year wait between Munster Cups.

2021 wasn't as kind to Tipp as they were relegated to Division 4 of the Allianz Football League. In the Championship, Power's side suffered an 11-point defeat to Kerry in the Munster semis. That left May's win over Wicklow as their only success of the year.

Meanwhile, Paddy Christie will remain as a selector under Power on top of his role as Under-20 football manager.

As reported by Tipp FM Sport, Tipperary football chairman Conor O'Dwyer said continuity was key, "Indeed yeah, and also to keep that link between the under-20s and the senior and I think that worked really well.

“We saw for the first year in a couple of year’s we had success at underage level, albeit we didn’t win anything but a couple of good performances and brought us to a Munster final.

“Having that link, that certainly is a focus for David and Paddy and all the management team in both the under 20s and the seniors is to continue to bring players through from under 18, under 17 level to under 20 and to senior.

“That’s why we all felt it was appropriate to give them a three-year term.”
