'They're into goading and antagonising the opposition'

Unfortunately, on a weekend that threw up key results, the biggest talking point in Gaelic football over the weekend turned out to be the antics in Tyrone's win over Monaghan in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

From accusations of cynical play in an U21 All-Ireland decider against Tipperary to claims of sledging in a minor match against Donegal - among others - it's not the first time Tyrone has been caught up in controversial headlines this year.

Tonight on Off The Ball, our own Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson, ex-Tyrone All-Ireland winner Brian McGuigan and former Meath star Anthony Moyles gave their takes on the unsavoury scenes from Saturday's match.

"The common denominator does always seem to be Tyrone. They're into goading and they're into antagonising the opposition," said Wooly.

But from a Tyrone perspective, McGuigan said that "we wouldn't be happy with the way we're portrayed in some parts of the media", although he feels Tiernan McCann was "totally wrong" for his act of simulation.

But McGuigan also added that simulation or goading is certainly not encouraged by Tyrone manager Micky Harte at training.

However, while Anthony feels that players like Mattie Donnelly and Peter Harte do not get involved in the antics that Tyrone are being currently accused of, he does think "there is an element that I would feel that has been there for the past number of years" which does get involved.
