Davy Fitzgerald has denied that a senior player was guilty of breaching the rules within the Clare hurling camp following the controversial departure from his panel of Davy O'Halloran and Nicky O'Connell.
O'Halloran - who has since joined the Banner footballers - told today's Irish Times that Fitzgerald was guilty of double-standards.
But this was refuted by the Sixmilebridge man following his side's compelling 2-22 to 2-20 victory over Dublin the the Allianz NHL Division 1 this afternoon.
"Yee guys and others have to write stories ... the only panic that was out there was guys that want to create it," Fitzgerald said.
When asked by Newstalk's Oisin Langan if he was indeed guilty of double-standards, Davy replied: "People can write what they wan to write ... no hassle with that.
"The bottom line is - and this is the only thing I want to say on this - we as a management would be fair in what we do.
"There is rules there. That's it. I am very happy that we've done everything correct and I know the players are as well.
"The lads aren't bad, they're good lads, and I wish them all the best with their clubs going forward and fair play to them.
When Davy pressed by Oisin if a senior player hadn't breached the rules but O'Halloran and Nicky O’Connell had, he replied: "110 per cent."
There followed a typically tense-and-terse back-and-forth with reporters but Davy weathered the mini-storm.
