As ever in a championship season, there is always a debut and Off The Ball's Friday GAA podcast was no different.
Off The Ball producer Michael McCarthy made his first appearance on the pod this week and ahead of today's Munster championship clash between defending All-Ireland champions Kerry (making their first appearance of the summer) and Tipperary, he made an interesting point about scheduling at this stage of the championship as Donegal (onto their second game of the summer) and Armagh prepare for an Ulster battle on the same afternoon:
"There's an issue with scheduling. I understand why this has to be the fourth Ulster game because Donegal already had a game. But surely there's a way of coming up with a summer that we don't have all these games and the All-Ireland champions aren't playing in a non-televised game in their first game," he said.
"I just think that these collections of 'right, everybody needs a game at this stage, we're getting into June, let's lump them all into the same weekend' doesn't do anyone any favours."
