On tonight's part of Off The Ball's Ford Sporting Moments series we were treated to a lovely look-back at the 1955 All-Ireland final.
That decider between Kerry and Dublin was the first All-Ireland final attended by Radio Kerry broadcasting legend Weeshie Fogarty and he joined us tonight to share his memories of a very different Ireland, as well as the hyped build-up and match sixty years before the same teams lock horns again at Croke Park.
Noting the legendary Kevin Heffernan at full-forward from Dublin, he said that "it was the first time that we saw a roving player" as we reflected on the changing flavour of GAA at the time.
Weeshie also recalled the match as being billed as "between the jackeens and country boys. That was the way it was blown up".
