The scrapping of the All-Ireland U21 championship and changes to the minor grades were among the issues to jump out of today's GAA discussion paper on player burnout and the fixture calendar.
Tonight on the Off The Ball Newsround, our own Colm "Wooly" Parkinson assessed the recommendations raised and suggested some ideas.
"The obvious thing to do here is to scrap the minor, but play an U-19 grade," he said.
"He's obviously gone U-17 because he doesn't want the crossover between colleges and leaving cert which is a big thing. My leaving cert suffered because I was playing Minor, because that's all you think about at the time. But if you brought it to U-19, you're bridging that gap a little bit more. When you're finished U-19 grade, you should be close enough - you might only have one year before you're 20 and you're called in. It's a much better bridging of the gap than being left in no-man's land as an 18-year-old with no inter-county football unless you have a senior team."
