It has been three days since Dublin exited the Leinster Hurling Championship after a 5-19 to 1-18 loss to Galwat in Tullamore.
Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan spoke yesterday to Dublin manager Ger Cunningham about the game and whats next for Dublin this summer. Cunningham was speaking at the launch of Toyota's Summer Showtime
Dublin captain Peter Kelly and Niall McMorrow were missing from the side on Saturday evening and Cunningham felt their losses were badly felt throughout the side. "We cant afford to lose anybody. We need everybody available to us. We were down two players, playing at the top of their form"
Paul Schutte was recalled to the team after missing the drawn game through injury and he struggled early on against Cathal Mannion who scored a hat trick inside 15 minutes. Cunningham though was happy with Schutte's return to the team and how he performed after that. "Paul was very close to playing the first day. When you havent played for a couple of weeks through an injury, that can certainly get to you."
Dublin now return to action on July 4th when they enter Round 1A of the Qualifiers, where they will face Offaly, Westmeath or Clare. "We wont know who we are going to be playing for another two weeks. I suppose getting ourselves right first of all, using the next two weeks in training and using that time properly to prepare for it. Once we know who we are playing, we will start focusing on the opponents and hopefully have ourselves ready.
