The TG4's latest ad campaign for ladies football features the image of a woman grasping a football close to her mid section, along with the tagline "The most important nine months of a woman's life".
Unsurprisingly, the online community have reacted.
Some found the image quite imaginative in it's production, a heavily silhouetted woman and lighting on key areas.

@thecailinrua The TG4 ad alludes to the same theme; sport more important than life, but tailors it to Ladies Football.

Others, however, found the image to be quite offensive and sexist, claiming it only portrays women in a very one dimensional light, i.e only as mothers.
Just ...no. @SportTG4 have done so much to promote ladies' football but this ad is wide of the mark (pardon the pun) https://t.co/ctMiWhFwEy

Not a fan of TG4's ad for @LadiesFootball coverage... don't see how it would encourage people to attend/watch a game pic.twitter.com/mVppppq8Xy

The new ad for Ladies Football from TG4 is ignorant in the extreme. I've been lucky enough to be involved with teams and find it appalling.

TG4 are one of the leading broadcasters when it comes to women's sports and have certainly raised the issue again of how to cover and advertise women's sport appropriately.
