Stephen Rochford told us about the experience of living in the Mayo 'bubble' in the lead-up to the All Ireland final, and how a tall tale took on fresh legs after input from David Brady...
Now, that doesn't ring true at all, does it?!
Rochford said that, for all the disappointments that have come to be associated with Mayo football over the years, it is by no means a sad tale.
Mayo
"When you talk about Mayo, it always becomes a sad story - but there have been a lot of great days," Rochford told Off The Ball.
It was one particular that is immortalised in Off The Ball's audio stings that raised a particular smile for Rochford.
"The story goes that before the 2017 final, we were in Limerick for a training camp and the word must have gone around in the week leading up, that Jim McGuinness had been down to deliver a plan to the lads.
"The story had been going that Jim had been with us for a few days, and I think someone had been on the night before on 'The Last Word'. Then David was on saying 'this is happening, I'm telling you!'"
David Brady
"I remember that I was on the bus going up to the game, and our media guy sent a text saying 'this story, my phone is blowing up, what do you want to do?'
"I'm like 'there's no truth to it' and I hadn't even met Jim McGuinness! I met him once, above in Donegal, but when I think about being on the bus and getting that text message, it does bring a bit of a smirk to the face."
But what of putting the boy Brady firmly in his place?
"Our media guy text him to say 'I can categorically tell you..'
"Then when you hear the bit, David comes from being North Pole to South Pole in about a minute!
"But that is the great thing about DB; when he tells those stories, he could be in front of the Pope telling them, and then back again in a minute!
"Even now, you have a good laugh about those stories, and you appreciate that when you're in the camp bubble, all the stuff happens around you.
"I never heard that Jim McGuinness story happening and it was the talk of the county in the week!"
