Roscommon manager John Evans says rumours made about his players, prompted his passionate post-match comments after defeating Cavan on Saturday.
Evans referred to "S-H-I-T-E" spoken about his players when Off The Ball's sideline reporter Billy Joe Padden caught up with him immediately after an important victory over Cavan at Breffni Park.
On tonight's show, he joined us and expanded on the reasons behind what he had said in the heat of the moment on Saturday.
"It was just the rumours, the nasty rumours that were put out about the players and these guys are so dedicated," he told Joe Molloy and Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson about what was going on within the county.
"All we were hearing was there were rows in the camp, that this one didn't turn up, that one didn't turn up. Look, it's sport and we didn't turn up on the day [against Sligo] and we didn't play. Fair play to Sligo. They're in a Connacht final as a result of them playing better than us on the day. But yeah, it was a lot of innuendos and rumours and stuff like that."
He also reiterated his belief that Roscommon's ambition should be about winning the game's great prizes.
"If these young fellas' parents aren't feeding these boys, putting up the dinner in the table, aren't thinking that they're feeding a champion in years to come ... if these boys going to bed at night don't think and dream that they can win an All-Ireland in three-years' time or four years' time or five years' time ... if these guys when they get up in the morning don't dream of playing for Roscommon and playing at the highest level, then what in the name of God would they be playing football for. I don't know why people would be so negative towards that comment."
