Adrian Marren says the comments of Roscommon manager John Evans about challenging for All-Irelands in future fuelled Sligo's desire to beat them.
When Off The Ball's Colm Parkinson asked him tonight if he felt Roscommon overlooked the Yeats County a bit before Saturday's Connacht championship semi-final result, Marren responded: "They probably did a small bit. He's probably regretting it now saying it."
Marren, who played a key role in the win over Sligo, also admitted that he and his team-mates used Evan's words as motivation.
"We did yeah. It was all the talk in our camp, what he said. It's hard for players then not to listening to this in their own county, especially in Roscommon, when he says 'we're going to compete and be in the Top 4, Top 6 in a couple of years time', you know it's going to be an advantage for us."
