Rory Gallagher: 'I personally don't think Tyrone had a poor league'

Donegal manager Rory Gallagher is adamant that league form will not dictate how this Sunday's Ulster Championship game against Tyrone will pan out.

Despite Tyrone's relegation from Division 1, Gallagher told Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre that a closer look at the league shows the gap between Donegal and the Red Hand County is insignificant.

"It's an enormous rivalry. In the last number of years, it's been an exciting rivalry. I know Tyrone well. My Mum's from Tyrone and they're football mad, so they are," he said.

"I personally don't think they've had a poor league. They lost the same number of games as us. They lost three games, we lost three games. They had better results against the likes of Kerry, Mayo and Dublin than we did. We took one point out of six and they took four points out of six against those teams. I think people get caught up with one game in which things went our way and it didn't go theirs. I think Tyrone are in a very good position and have a lot of quality players in their squad. I think it's a sign of the strength of their squad that there's very few of their U21s established in the team."
