Off The Ball take a nostalgia trip back to Kerry v Cork 1995

As Cork travel to Killarney tomorrow to try and overcome Kerry in the Munster football final, they can dig back 20 years to 1995 for inspiration.

That July, they went to the Kingdom and came back with the provincial crown by beating Kerry 0-15 to 1-9 and it remains the last time they beat their rivals in the championship at Fitzgerald Stadium.

We've got tomorrow's Munster final live on Off The Ball and to remember that 1995 match, Ger was joined by two of the protagonists: former Kerry All-Ireland winner Billy O'Shea and ex-Cork and Kildare forward Larry Tompkins.

While the match came at a time when Kerry were far from their customary supremacy, O'Shea spoke about that year which contained some of the mainstays of a side that would go on to win All-Irelands in 1997 and 2000.

"We had the bones of a young team that had started really from the 95-96 U21 squad that Paidi [O'Se] had. A lot of that team were the foundation for the success of 1997 and onward. But certainly, we had gone through a bad period," he said.

Kerry v Cork is live on Off The Ball with commentary from Oisin Langan, Colm Parkinson and James Horan. Listen to the full interview with Billy and Larry via the podcast:
