Turns out Charlie Redmond's '95 All-Ireland winning medal has been stolen

Tonight on Off The Ball, Dublin's former forward Charlie Redmond and ex-manager Dr Pat O'Neill joined us on the show to look back on the heady days of the early '90s and the eventual 1995 All-Ireland triumph.

Redmond was central to that success, scoring the only goal and getting sent off in the final against Tyrone, moments which he reminisced about.

"I assumed I wasn't getting sent off. So I stood there in front of the referee. The ball was thrown in, the ball broke and I got the ball, kicked the ball to the far corner to Paul Clarke at which stage Paddy Russell comes over to me and says 'I told you to go off,'" he said.

O'Neill also spoke about the problems that had to be fixed in a promising team in the years leading up to the holy grail of '95.

But both also highlighted the crucial role a teenage Jason Sherlock had.

"What Jason gave us was something we didn't have previously," said Redmond.

"What we didn't have was the goal touch. Jason brought that with great aplomb and great skill. From the very first time he came training with us, you could see that. He wasn't the most technically gifted footballer but he had an eye for goal and that's what he gave us that year. And also what he gave us was relief from the press because he took the whole concentration of the press away from the rest of us and let us get on with what we needed to get on with."

But Redmond also had a story about the winner's medal from '95.

"My house was broken into about 10 or 12 years ago and they only took one thing. They took the medal. Just the one thing and it was upstairs in the drawer. The only thing they took was the medal and they left [my wife's] engagement ring which was worth an awful lot more," he revealed.
