Rachel Wyse calls for Sky Sports to start covering Women's GAA

Rachel Wyse has given her support to the prospect of Sky Sports broadcasting women's GAA games.

Wyse, who will anchor the GAA coverage on Sky Sports for the third time this summer, has said that she would welcome the coverage of Ladies GAA on the channel and said that focusing on women's sport in general, is a major priority for the TV station.

''I can only speak from my own perspective but I know women’s sport is a big priority within Sky Sports.  We have a programme that runs every Tuesday called SportsWomen and it is all about celebrating female athletes in the UK and Ireland, for example, Katie Taylor… I think the more coverage the better.''

The ongoing lack of media attention on Ladies GAA has sparked significant ire among those in the sport with inter-county players such as Sarah Rowe(Mayo), Sinead Goldrick (Dublin) and Cora Staunton(Mayo) all speaking out on behalf of the players.

The Ladies Gaelic Football association has recently secured an historical €1.5m sponsorship alliance with Lidl in recent months, a figure which is hoped to curb the inequalities that have halted the progression of the sport.
