Mayo were narrowly beaten in Division One of the Lidl National Football League in Croke Park after Dublin came back from six points down in the first half.
Rachel Kearns scored two goals and two points for the westerners but they were unable to hold onto an early lead with the All Ireland Champions eventually coming out on top by 1-17 to 3-9.
Mayo Ladies manager Peter Leahy gave his thoughts to Off the Ball's Aisling O'Reilly after after his side’s disappointing loss.
“I’m kind of getting sick about people talking about positives, at the end of the day we didn’t get a win today.
“Yes there’s positives but there’s a huge gap that needs to be bridged and we’re trying very very hard, we’re working very hard to try and bridge those gaps,” Leahy said.
The 2017 All Ireland finalists have had a turbulent time of late but Leahy was pleased to see his side respond strongly to the challenge before them.
“A lot of people are writing Mayo off because of different things that have happened over a period of time, but we’ve the strongest group of people and we’re the proudest county in Ireland.”
“Mayo ladies have a lot to say in this championship yet and this league yet,” Leahy added.
Mayo currently find themselves in fifth place in the Division One table while Dublin go top, albeit with a game in hand over unbeaten Donegal and Galway.
While Leahy and his side came away unhappy from Croke Park on Saturday night, the manager saw no reason to despair.
"We fought to the end. We're playing the All-Ireland champions, you don't expect to get anything easy.
“There was parts in the game where I thought we were very very good, there was parts where we let ourselves down. It’s the parts where we let ourselves down where we should work on and keep the positives going,” Leahy said.
Mayo will face their neighbours Galway in Castlebar in the next round of the League on the 2nd of March while Dublin will welcome Westmeath to the capital a day later.
