Morning Bulletin: Headlines from the sports desk

GAA

Donegal manager Rory Gallagher is expected to name his side this morning ahead of Sunday's Ulster Championship battle with Tyrone in Ballybofey.

Tyrone boss Mickey Harte revealed his side last night, with first-choice goalkeeper Niall Morgan named on the bench as he continues his recovery from a groin strain.

Team captain Sean Cavanagh has been passed fit to start at full-forward for Tyrone, which means that Padraig McNulty will make his championship debut in midfield.

 

Later tonight, there is quarter-final action in the Leinster Minor Football Championship.

Laois will host Kildare at O'Moore Park, while Longford and Carlow will meet at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Both games will throw-in at 7.30pm.

SOCCER

Middlesbrough will start as favourites to become the first club book their place in this season's Championship play-off final when they face Brentford later tonight.

Boro hold a 2-1 lead going into the second-leg of their semi-final at the Riverside.

There are three games tonight in the Airtricity League Premier Division.

Leaders Dundalk will be looking to continue their unbeaten streak as they host Derry City at Oriel Park.

The other 7.45pm kick-off is at Eamonn Deacy Park, where Galway United will take on Bohemians.

There is also one 8pm start in the Premier Division as Shamrock Rovers face Longford Town at the Tallaght Stadium.

In the First Division, Roddy Collins' first match in charge of struggling Waterford United will see Cabinteely United pay a visit to the RSC.

Elsewhere, Athlone Town go up against Shelbourne and the Wexford Youths go to UCD.

 

GOLF

Trevor Fisher Jnr holds a one shot lead at the start of day two at the Spanish Open.

The South African will resume from 7-under par later this morning after a superb round of 65 yesterday.

Michael Hoey leads the Irish challenge from 1-under.

RACING

There is racing this evening in Dundalk and in Kilbeggan.

The all-weather track at Dundalk will host a seven-race card, with the first off at 5.55pm.

The big race of the evening in Kilbeggan is the Belvedere House, Gardens And Park Handicap Chase, which is set to feature a field of 14 runners.

The action begins ther at 5.45pm.
