Monaghan have beaten Tyrone in the championship for the first time since 1988, and kept alive their chances of retaining their Ulster title.
A solid performance from the Ferney county men started from the back and made them good value for their 1-12 to 0-14 win.
Dermot Malone scored the crucial goal early in the second half. Malone would have been forgiven for taking his point but a tidy low finish proved the pivotal moment of the game as it opened up a 5 point gap, 1-09 to 0-7,that Tyrone would never be able to close.
Kieran Hughes missed a penalty for Monaghan in the first half.
Monaghan face Armagh in the Ulster semi-final on the 28th of June, while Tyrone are into the Qualifiers, where they will face Louth.
