Meet the 42-year-old who scored two goals in the Laois County Final

Portlaoise's quest for eight in a row in Laois was halted for at least a week because of a 42 year old opponent.

Emo's Mick Lawlor scored two goals as his side drew 2-9 to 0-15 in the Laois County Final. The replay take place next Saturday in O'Moore Park. The former county star spoke to Off the Ball last night about his heroics.

Lawlor added that Emo have struggled for numbers this year in the league. "It's not by choice that I'm playing. It's more of a necessity. If you dont turn up you might not have the 15. What can you do? You're in a small club. A lot like ourselves around the country where theres lads hitting my age have no choice but to keep going".

AFL star Zach Tuohy returned to Portlaoise in the County Final and Lawlor said the Carlton star made all the difference. "I never played against a fella as fit, even when playing the likes of Dublin in the Championship. He did make a difference".

Ahead of the replay, Lawlor feels that his side have a chance in the replay. "We felt going into the game that we had a seriously good chance".
