Monaghan manager Malachy O'Rourke says the lessons gleaned from last year's Ulster final helped them get the better of Donegal this year.
Monaghan won out by a point in Clones to make up for a three-point loss in the 2014 decider.
Speaking on Off The Ball tonight, O'Rourke highlighted the lessons picked up.
"We did look back at the final last year. Defensively we got a number of things right last year but we just felt when we got the ball to the halfway line that our attacking play wasn't as good as it could have been. We kicked the ball away at times and we ran into cul-de-sacs. We knew we had to improve and we did that to a fair degree on Sunday. It was by no means a complete performance and in some ways we were hanging on at the end. But at least we were glad that we did improve on last year," he said.
