Former Kilkenny corner-back Michael Kavanagh believes there are good signs for Galway ahead of this weekend's Leinster hurling final.
He and Jamesie O'Connor joined us on Off The Ball to preview Sunday's big match and while Galway's unpredictability can often rear its head, Kavanagh noted a few differences about them this year in comparison to 2014.
"Overall, they seem to be a bit more united and focused this year. They seem to have a bit more shape but physically imposing as well all over the field - big men - and they only have to look back to last year when they came very close to beating Kilkenny in Tullamore," he said.
Looking at the records between both teams, he also feels Galway's tradition against Kilkenny should not fill them with dread.
"Their record above anyone over the last 15 years would have the best record of any team that's come up against Kilkenny. So Kilkenny will have always have to be wary of Galway," said Kavanagh, who also spoke about his former side not tending to do match-ups against opposition attacks.
Jamesie also revealed that Kilkenny may find a way to wear Galway down and that their forwards will be hard to contain throughout the 70 minutes.
