Kieran Kingston will take over as Cork senior hurling manager, the Cork County Board announced this afternoon.
Kingston succeeds Jimmy Barry-Murphy in the position after signing a two-year deal.
Barry-Murphy resigned in August after four years in charge in his second spell at the helm of the Cork hurlers.
"On behalf of the County Board, I would like to wish Kieran all the very best in his new position,” said County Chairman Gerard Lane.
“He joins a long list of distinguished Cork managers, and brings with him a wealth of experience, both as a player and as a coach.
"I would like to thank all the candidates who expressed an interest in the position, and also the members of the appointments committee for their endeavours.”
The 52-year-old has a distinguished inter-county career, winning three Munster titles Munster titles in 1985, ’86 and ’90 with his county and two All-Irelands in 1986 and ’90.
Kingston will be looking to end Cork's All-Ireland drought, a competition they haven't won in a decade.
