Former Kildare player Johnny Doyle Kildare's showdown with the GAA is like two ends of a magnet.
The stand-off stems from Kildare's refusal to play their third round qualifying championship match against Mayo in Croke Park.
Doyle says he beleives there may be no way to resolve the situation as Kildare's stance remains firm.
"In fairness to Croke Park, they've made their stance, and I'm sure any reason's they've come up with, they feel justfied by it. The opposite end Kildare would be in the same boat. As it stands now, it's two ends of a magnet, they are not going to come together,' Said Doyle.
The GPA tonight released a statement backing Kidare GAA, and inisisted that the game be reinstated to it's original venue of St. Conleth's Park.

STATEMENT | "The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) is today calling on the GAA to immediately reinstate the Kildare versus Mayo Round 3 Qualifier game to the original fixture for Saturday evening at 7pm in St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge."https://t.co/K4Mg80Oj1I
The former Kildare player says it's not looking positive that we are going to see at the fixture take place on Saturday.
"It looks like, at this stage, they'll be throwing in the ball with only one team standing on the pitch. Unless the two can sit down and come to an agreement. The statement from both Croke Park and Kildare GAA, as we've heard from Cian O'Neill's point-of-view, we are at stale mate.
The GAA said Kildare will forfeit their place in the Championship if they do not turn up at Croke Park on Saturday.
Kildare manager O'Neill hollowed the GPA's statement and confirmed that his side will not back down. He remains adamant they will purposely not show up at the the re-scheduled venue of Croke Park.
"Knowing Cian, and Cian is a very approachable guy. He seems very adamant on about what he is saying here. I saw the clip on the six-one news, and he doesn't look like a gut to me that is going to back down."
