Jim Gavin keeps counsel over Davey Byrne incident

Dublin manager Jim Gavin kept quiet over the controversy surrounding Davey Byrne ahead of the capital's quarter-final showdown with Fermanagh  on Sunday.

Byrne was involved in what was described as a "fracas" with an unidentified Armagh player during a challenge match resulting in him requiring treatment for a broken nose and other facial injuries.

The 26-year-old missed the Leinster final clash with Westmeath, but has since returned to training with the first team.

Both counties were slapped with a reported €10,000 fine and it is unclear whether the counties will appeal the punishment.

What was clear, however, was that Gavin was in no mood to discuss the bust-up.

"I’m just here to talk about three days out from an All-Ireland quarter-final. That’s my focus," he said speaking at a press conference.

Colm Parkinson had previously spoken to Gavin about the incident, but he said he was satisfied the issue had been resolved.

His primary concern was his squad and thankfully for him, he has no injury concerns heading into the match.

"We have the full hand to select from. It is the first time this season.

"We have everyone back, including Nickey Devereaux who picked up an ankle injury with his club a few weeks back. He is back training."

Dublin are heavy favourites to progress through to the semi-final, with the general consensus that the team are yet to be challenged in the championship.

Throw-in at Croke Park on Sunday is 4pm.
