The now-famous half-time speech by Jackie Tyrrell in yesterday's All-Ireland Final has been "over-hyped" according to the man himself.
Tyrrell along with Eoin Larkin spoke with Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan this morning in the Citywest Hotel as the county celebrated their 36th All-Ireland Title.
The James Stephens man was an unused sub in the game due to a hairline fracture in his foot and it was revealed after the win that the now nine-time All-Ireland winner spoke to the team at half-time.
"I spoke for maybe 30 or 40 seconds from the heart and just told the lads what an opportunity they had. They hadn't got going in the first half at all."
According to Tyrrell, the speech was not planned at all: "I just started talking and I spoke from the heart. I just said to the lads, 'what an opportunity you have in the second half and just go out there and go for it'. The reaction was unbelievable out of the lads".
