Today was a very special day in Kerry as 32 All Ireland winners climbed Carrantuohil as part of the Sam To The Summit event in aid of the Alan Kerins project.
Ger and the lads were in Kerry today for a very special show and spoke to Alan about the important work his charity carries out in Africa.
"We still provide the very basics for communities and we believe that everyone has a right to food, to water, to shelter and to education. So a lot of our focus is on providing those basics to people. The big thing is empowering people and teaching them life skills so that they can become self-sustainable rather than giving them handouts. It's all about a hand up, not a handout," said the Galway man.
Alan also spoke about the way in which he was inspired to set up his charity following a visit to Zambia and the support he has received from the GAA community, saying that it is a GAA charity in many ways.
