"It brings you back down to Earth fairly quickly" - Bernard Brogan on the return to club football after All Ireland glory

It's a case of "no rest for wicked!" as many of Dublin's All Ireland winning heroes return to action for their clubs tonight.

Saint Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh meet Raheny, while Kilmacud Crokes take on Ballyboden Saint Enda’s in Parnell Park, so we caught up with Bernard Brogan to chat about how difficult it can be to play club football so soon after a huge All Ireland final victory.

Less than two weeks after winning Sam Maguire Bernard and Alan Brogan, as well Brian Fenton, Michael Daragh McAuley, Rory O'Carroll, Cian O'Sullivan and others will play in huge club matches with players they may have grown up with, but haven’t seen in quite some time due to their Dublin commitments.

It's not their fault, and given the choice most teams would love that kind of firepower, but it must be tough on the players themselves who are expected to deliver despite not working with their teammates for the bulk of the summer.

If the GPA’s proposed new Championship format is accepted more time will be given to the clubs for fixtures, but that would also mean further pressure on an already packed schedule for players.

Bernard Brogan and Alan Brogan have six All Ireland medals and two player of the year titles between them, but there's still one thing missing from their glittering array of awards: a county title, and that’s something they desperately want to add to their already impressive CVs.

At the AIG Reception for victorious Dublin Football team, Bernard Brogan chatted to me about catching the unicorn that is the county title and reintegrating into the club side.
