There were 95 minutes of hurling needed to separate the two teams on Saturday, as Mary Immaculate College faced University Limerick (UL) in the Fitzgibbon Cup final.
It was a long, high-scoring encounter between the two sides in Cork on Saturday as both Mary Immaculate and University Limerick gave it everything to claim the Fitzgibbon Cup.
The old mantra of taking your points proved to be all too true for Mary Immaculate today as the sides hit 52 points over the bar, and a further glut of goals.
Neither team was giving an inch with the scores tied at the break, as Mary Immaculate's 0-9 was matched by UL's 1-6. Tom Morrissey was on target early with the goal for UL, but Declan Hannon's superb performance saw him slot over a number of points to keep his side in contention.

That was to be a trend that continued in the second half, with Hannon scoring Mary Immacuate's only goal, while John McGrath found the back of the net twice for UL. At the end of normal time, they were still level with the scores at UL 3-12 to Mary Immaculate's 1-18.
