There was no quarter asked and certainly none given at Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday night as Kilkenny came from six points behind on 63 minutes to secure two points against a confident Cork side.
The score at hald time was 1-12 to 0-11 in favour of the hosts but Kilkenny hung in there and never gave up the ghost despite looking dead and buried with less than ten minutes to play. Two quick fire goals was enough to see them go level and with both sides exchanging points, the matter was settled in injury time when John Power pointed to leave the scores 2-23 to 2-22 in favour of the Cats.
